cryptovision CEO Markus Hoffmeister publishes article in The Vault

Shortly before the end of the year, cryptovision once again sets a medial exclamation mark. In the latest issue of the magazine The Vault, published by industry association Silicon Trust, cryptovision’s CEO Markus Hoffmeister (together with co-author Klaus Schmeh) presents his assessment of the currently most discussed topic in the identity industry: the blockchain. In his article BLOCKCHAIN Blues – the END of eID cards? Hoffmeister shows that the blockchain can be very useful for eID technology and that there are interesting synergy effects. The question asked in the title of the article is therefore easy to answer: The blockchain is not the end of eID cards. There is therefore no reason for a blockchain blues.

cryptovision employees starring in Silicon Trust video

High above the roofs of Cannes, France, three employees of cryptovision gave interviews on the topic of electronic identities. These interviews have now been published as videos on the Silicon Trust website. The videos were shot during the TrusTech conference in the Palais des Festivals, where each year the stars of the world-famous Cannes Film Festival are honoured. On the second day of the event, Steve Atkins of the Silicon Trust industry association invited the industry’s most important players to lunch.

The view from the roof terrace of the city’s highest hotel was breathtaking, the sky bright blue and the temperatures at least ten degrees higher than in foggy Germany.

Steve Atkins used the presence of the eID celebrities for several video interviews, which he had professionally produced. cryptovision employees Ben Drisch, Fermín Vazquez and Marco Smeja also gave their statements.

The interviews are now available in three separate videos on the Silicon Trust website. We invite you to take a look.

cryptovision’s Klaus Schmeh gives radio interview

cryptovision’s Klaus Schmeh gives radio interview

The daily show “Zeitzeichen” on WDR 5 is one of the most popular radio formats in Germany. In a report about the legendary encryption machine Enigma, which aired last week, cryptovision employee and Enigma expert Klaus Schmeh had his say – with numerous O-tones. The responsible editor Martin Herzog had visited cryptovision a few weeks before to interview Klaus. Other experts interviewed by Herzog were Jochen Viehoff from the Heinz-Nixdorf-Museum in Paderborn and the nephew of world-famous computer pioneer and Enigma decipherer Alan Turing. The result was a 15-minute report, which – also thanks to some radio plays – has become extremely exciting. It’s worth listening!

New cryptovision product lowers costs: sc/interface cache

New cryptovision product lowers costs: sc/interface cache

Another day at work begins and first it is a login to at the operating system, perhaps then again at the VPN. Next it is encrypting or digitally signing several emails. It is obvious that a smart card user needs to enter their PIN many times a day. The time required for this repeated procedure is considerable: assuming that a user enters his PIN five times a day for each of four applications he uses, at a cost of five seconds per entry, a company with 50,000 users wastes 1,389 working hours (and thus four-digit costs) per day. This is where cryptovision’s newest product, sc/interface cache, comes in. This innovative add-on enables secure PIN caching – and thus single sign-on – with the cryptovision smart credential middleware sc/interface. The end user experience is seamless and the user only has to enter his PIN once and can then use their card across a myriad of different applications – even with Universal Windows platform applications such as EDGE – without having to re-enter their PIN. Considering the previous calculation, it is obvious that an investment in sc/interface cache pays for itself within a few days.
